Cha teacup

2020
glaze on stoneware
1230 C

One of the first cups I ever made, also as part of a series based on my interest in the etymology of Chinese characters. The wonky nature of this cup, which is the result of beginner attempts on the wheel, works in the favor of creating an "ancient" feel for the piece. The character here is a variation of the older "liushutong" character for 茶 or "tea".
